What juice is good for skin complexion

Our skin complexion changes as we grow older. Wrinkles appear. It is the sing of aging. There are many skin creams on the market that say this and say that to a better skin complexion. But I wanted to know if there was a juice that could give me an inside out cleanse. Here is what I found.

What juice is good for skin complexion? Cucumber and apple juice when combined can do great wonders for your skin. Cucumbers hydrate the skin and apples have plenty of nutrients that will cleanse the skin and provide you with a blemish-free skin.

Apple juice is readily available off the shelf both in drink form and as fresh fruit. Cucumber juice not so. But is apple and cucumber juice combo good for us to consume?

I drink a lot of apple juice both fresh and store bought. I have it with my tea instead of milk and sugar. Not so much cucumber juice. So now time for some research to see if apple and cucumber juice is as good as others say it is.

Apple juice off the store shelf contains preservative and added sugars that we do not need. I have not found cucumber juice on the shelf. As a drink, apple and cucumber combo is refreshing and contains vitamins and nutrients. Fresh apple juice and cucumber juice is the best mix.

Juiced or blended, apple and cucumber juice contains more fibre and nutrients than shelf juice and with no added sugar. Plus if you leave the apple skin on you get the added fiber.

Why Apples…

Apples are packed with vitamin C that helps to build collagen and their high levels of copper encourage the skin to produce melanin, a pigment responsible for your skin colour.

Apples have long been known for the antioxidant benefits they offer. We are so familiar with apples that I think we often forget the exceptional nourishment they provide.

Apples are a good source of fiber and vitamin C. They also contain polyphenols, which may have numerous health benefits.

The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds in apples

  • may promote bone health. What’s more, eating fruit may help preserve bone mass as you age.
  • may help regulate immune responses and protect against asthma.
  • Eating apples is linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. This is possibly due to their polyphenol antioxidant content.

Apple juice may help preserve acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that can decline with age. Low levels of acetylcholine are linked to Alzheimer’s disease

Skin of the Apple

The apple’s skin is uniquely rich in nutrients, and even if the recipe you’ve selected includes peeled apples, consider leaving the skins on to enjoy the unique benefits found in the skins.

Pectin, a potent detoxifier found in apple skin, purifies the body instantly. The cleansing effect is enhanced by celery, cucumber and horseradish, which act as diuretics to relieve you of excess fluid.

Apple nutrients are disproportionately present in the skin, which in terms of its nutrient content is a particularly valuable part of the fruit.

Apples for weight loss

Apples help in weight loss due to their high fiber content. The type of fiber in apples feeds good bacteria and may be the reason they protect against obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.

Apples promote heart health. They’re high in soluble fiber, which helps lower cholesterol. They also have polyphenols, which are linked to lower blood pressure and stroke risk. For those who have had heart issues, an apple a day goes a long way.

Where have all the apples gone…

There are literally thousands of varieties of apples consumed worldwide, as mind-boggling as it might seem. I did not know there where that many varieties. We only see a few on our shelves in this country.

As it would be… how many types of apples exist? You’re not going to see this many apple varieties in the grocery store, but there are 7,500 varieties of apples in existence throughout the world. And there are 2,500 grown in the United States.

In the United Kingdom there are over 2200 varieties but few of those will be on the supermarket shelves. There are 40 varieties in Canada, and 11 varieties in Australia.

Fresh Apples are best…

Perhaps the greatest benefit of juicing apples at home is the flavor of the ripe, fresh apple. And that is the apple that is off the tree. Apples at sore may be from frozen stock. You will know because they go brown very quickly when cut.

Wash your apple…

Be sure to thoroughly rinse the whole apple under a flow of water. This will remove any residue of chemical that may still be present. They would have been washed during storage, but may have been sprayed to keep insect away while on the shelf.

Bruised apples…

It is suggested that you treat apples carefully. Remove any damaged or bruised apples from the bunch. A bruised apple can spread contamination to other apples causing them to go bad quickly.

Apple Cucumber Skin Cleanser Juice Recipe

In this juice we have apples and cucumber, celery and horseradish, and parsley. There is a secret ingredient to turn this juice into an evening cocktail.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 large green apple, de-cored
  • 3 sticks of celery, washed
  • 1 medium cucumber, de skin, wash
  • 3cm piece of horseradish, peeled, washed ( you can use off the shelf horseradish 1 table spoon)
  • a handful of parsley, washed

DIRECTIONS:

  • Juice the components in a juicer. Drink.

Secret Ingredient

Juice does not have to be dull. To turn this juice into a evening delight or a summer refresher we include a secret ingredient. Top up your glass with the secret ingredient. There are two choices for the secret ingredient.

The first is Schweppes Lemonade. Top you glass with lemonade. Do not shake, stir or blend. It needs to go in after the blending process. This will retain the effervescence fizz that makes it interesting.

The second secret ingredient choice is Schweppes Dry Ginger Ale. I chose Schweppes because they use chili in their dry ginger ale. It adds a little bite with its effervescence fizz. Again, add last, do not shake or stir.

Why Cucumbers…

Cucumber benefits your skin by not only rejuvenating it but also by improving your skin texture. This is due to the cucumber’s high antioxidant levels, which help to reduce the inflammation in the skin, like redness, puffiness, and blemishes.

Cucumber juice is naturally hydrating and contains minerals like potassium and magnesium that actually help maintain your body’s fluid balance.

Cucumbers are 96 % water…

Cucumbers are 96 percent water. Staying hydrated helps your body to flush out toxins and maintain a healthy complexion. Cucumber water does not give you a bloating stomach and helps your body to cool down and is great for that flat stomach look.

One cup of sliced cucumbers has about 5 percent of the recommended daily value of vitamin B-5. Pantothenic acid or vitamin B-5, which has been used to treat acne.
